Very Nice!Runner of the Week #2: Congratulations to Chip Gosewisch who finised the 50K 8th overall in a time of 5:14:30. Someone told me his calf muscles get lots of the credit too!?
Our group prides itself on promoting trail running and get people out who may never have run a trail race or an Ultra Marathon before. Congratulations to Jeremy Dougherty who finished the 50K 17th overall in a time of 5:36:53. Jeremy just started running with us a couple months ago and this was his second 50K.
First timer: Last week Wednesday morning we had a first time trail runner run with us. His name is Manoj Nagalla. After the run he overheard everyone talking about the Mesquite Canyon trail runs. So he thinks that sounds like fun and enters the 50K. Congratulations Manoj on finishing your first Trail Ultra. Great job. We hope to see you out again.
Other WMRC notables who completed the 50K: Roig, Pearce, Higgins, Hughes, Dehaan, Rondeau, Harding, Sarka just to name a few because we always miss someone. Who else?

10 mile: Congrats Mike Auther, who also just started to run with us a few months ago. Keep it going!!!

When you complete your first 50-mile race you are pretty much guaranteed a Runner Of The Week Award (hint for some of you). Congratulations to Jason Klonoski who has been on a roll lately. January Cave Creek Trail Marathon – Done; February Pemberton 50k – Done; March Old Pueblo 50 mile – Done! Jason overcame a 4-mile wrong turn at mile 19 and persevered to the finish. What’s next? I see a 100K then a 100-mile in your future…
Also a huge congrats to Rachel Jones who also finished her first 50 mile. Rachel ran the race with her two good friends Liz and Laura and crewed by her husband Jeff. It doesn't get much better than that. Great job all of you!!

The traveling Coury brothers are on their way back to Phoenix from their Copper Canyon Ultra Marathon run in Mexico. Nick was the first international runner finishing 6th overall in 7:29 behind 5 Tarahumara runners. Jamil finished 12th 7:56 as the 3rd international runner. Nick said the weather was great all day and just an amazing experience running with the Tarahumara.
Its not Copper Canyon but it is still beautiful. Don’t forget to come out for the Mesquite Canyon Trail Runs in the White Tanks Mountains March 20th. Sign up!!

Old Pueblo 50 Taper Run 3.3.10
Reminder: group trail run in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve tomorrow morning 5:16 AM. Plan on a little over one hour at a slow pace for consideration of those who are running the Old Pueblo 50 mile Saturday morning. If no OP runners than a moderate pace:>)
Meet at the usually place, top lot of Squaw Peak Drive.
Runner of the week: Those that competed in the Ragnar Relay from Prescott to Mesa. Joe G, Laura E, Dave C and Jon R among others. Our thoughts and prayers are with the young man who was critically injured during the event. Lets all be careful out there training and stick with the trails where the cars can't get us.
Good luck to the Old Pueblo 50 mile runners Saturday morning. Especially first timers Rachel Jones and Jason Klonoski! Other notable WMRCers on the starter list: Honey Albrecht, Robert Andrulis, Jody Chase, Liz Everly, Joe Galope, Laura Nagy. Please help if we are missing someone!!
Check out last year's footage. Got to love the three legged winners!!
Lastly, remember: Mesquite Canyon Trail Runs March 20th.
