Latvaaho / Ironman World Championship, Kona

Good luck to WMRCer Chris Latvaaho who is running in the Ironman World Championships in Kona Hawaii this Saturday. The McCarville's and Ohlinger's are there also!!! Must be nice. There is a live video web cast and you can follow his progress at this link:

He says the weather is hot and humid just how he likes it!!! Check out the photos of the start area he just sent. His daughter Ariana gets her great looks from her mom. Obviously not from Chris:)

It will be nice for him to get this Triathlon stuff over with so he can get back to the trails!!!

Update from Kirk, start of race: Picture this. The sun is coming up on the ironman swim course. A Navy battleship is anchored outside the bay. The Navy is a sponsor of Ironman. A C 130 circles overhead. Two seals jump from the plane. One is david Goggins. They land in the bay and swim to the starting area. The race goes off. How is that for a start? More to follow.

Chris is finished. Kirk said he is so fresh that it is scary!!! Chris ran a 3:09 (7:14 pace) marathon to finish with an overall time of 9:42:58 good for an overall 167th place 30th in his division. That is against the best!!! Great job Chris. We expect to see you Wednesday!! Time to take that fitness to the trails!!

PS Go Cards!!!
