Washatch Taper Run 9/9 & Reflection Run 9/11

Reminder: Group trail run in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve tomorrow morning 5:15 AM. Meet at the very top lot of Squaw Peak Drive north of Glendale Ave. Plan on a little over one hour at a slow to moderate pace. We had 22 runners last week. Plenty of room for more. We may have to succumb to headlamps but we shall see (or not).

Runner of the week: Nominees were running in the White Tanks, 12 hours at Javelina, Jerome Hill Climb, Squaw Peak Challenge. The ROW is Debbie Leftwich for running two laps (50K) on the Pemberton Trail Saturday night during the 12 hours at Javelina then backing that up with a heat of the day Squaw Peak Challenge Sunday afternoon. Great show.

Good luck to Jody, Liz and Jeff Jones who are running the Wasatch 100 mile endurance run in the mountains of Utah Friday and Saturday. You can follow their progress here: Wasatch 100 updates.

Friday is September 11th. A day to reflect. Also a day to look forward. We are going to meet at 5:30 AM at Dreamy Draw Park (exit Northern off SR-51) for the annual “Reflection Run”. This is a slow run in the preserve up an around red mound. Nothing better than running with a group on this day. Slow pace, good company, be thankful, reflect, look-forward.

Late edit: Robert Andrulis wins the weekend travel award for running the 71 mile historic Massunutten Trail "The Ring" in the George Washington National Forest - Central Virginia. Looking good at mile 42 below. Nice Job.

Not older than dirt, but older than ME (OK, maybe only 3 months or so, but older nonetheless ;^)

HB Mark!
