WMRC Run Reminder for 12/10/08

Reminder, we are on for a group trail run in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve tomorrow (Wednesday) at 5:17 AM. Mark in on pacer probation so you can be assured the pace will be slow to moderate for about one hour. Great running weather but bundle up a little bit. Head lamps are a must.

About 30 people showed up to to either run or work aid for the South Mountain 50K. See Robert's report on the previous post. Everyone who participated is deserving for Runner of the Week, but the individuals who completed the full 50K stand out. Great job Paul, Honey, Liz, Joe, Chuck, Brian, Melissa, Debbie, and Aaron

Congratulations to the 3 voters who correctly predicted the outcome of the Devils Vs Cats game. The vote was anonymous but I bet Mark, Jason and Blaine (maybe Michael) are the 3. The other 4 winners are the "I couldn't care less" voters. I should have changed my vote to that!!

Lastly, for those who still wait to purchase the annual Ultra Calender, Jamie Mieras will bring extras in the morning. They are $18.00.

Hi. I can't seem to add my own topic so I'm adding a comment. Every so often I volunteer for trail projects, and there is one this weekend. Here is the e-mail I got:
Trail Crew Volunteers -

Hey! It's your last chance this year to get out and work on the trails with Ranger Paul, Ranger Allyson and the rest of the oldtimers of our merrie crew! The project next Saturday, December 13th, is on Trail 8, out to the southeast of the congested Sqxxx Peak area.

We will meet at 7 AM at Dreamy Draw, as usual.

We'll carpool from Dreamy Draw in a Ranger van to the limited access work area (Lincoln at 36th Street).

For that reason, it's imperative that you make it to Dreamy Draw on time - 7 AM sharp!

I hope to see you next Saturday at Dreamy Draw! Please come and help with the trail repairs if you can - future dates are still uncertain.

Thanks to all!

Chile Steve

With that being said, I plan on parking at Squaw Peak around 8am and running trail 8 until I see people working. Projects usaully go until about 11 or 12, but you can leave any time. I hope some of you can make it out even if only for a short time.

There are usually gloves at Dreamy Draw, but you might want to bring your own if you are meeting at the work site.

If anyone has questions, I'll do my best to answer them in the morning during Wednesday morning's run.
Thanks!
Candice

That is great stuff Candice. Thanks. I can’t volunteer Saturday but I would like to know about other opportunities to help with the trails. Keep the group informed. Kevin
