WMRC Wednesday Run Reminder 12/2/09

Who is Running? Reminder: Group trail run in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve tomorrow morning 5:17 AM. Meet at the usual place at the end of squaw peak drive north Glendale Avenue. Plan on a little over one hour at a slow to moderate pace. Great running weather, don't forget your headlamp / flashlight. First timers are always welcome and encouraged to join in.
Congrats to the one person who predicted correctly the outcome of the ASU v UofA Territorial Cup. That person is very smart. Must be a Sun Devil!!

Sunday morning the South Mountain 50K / Fun Run is scheduled. Stay tuned for more info or leave a comment for someone to get back to you.

Will there be any water? Thanks for putting this on, and I think a 50 oz bladder and 20 oz hand held should get me through. Sounds like fun.

Yes. It's my understanding the first section is an out and back from Buena Vista so you will have an opportunity to rehydrate there. I also believe there will be other areas with a supply of water jugs.

Great, I read that you will pass back by your car, which is a great way to resupply. The next thing I could not find is where Buena Vista Parking Lot is located? Is it at 48th St and E. Pima Canyon Rd? Could someone give a link to a Google Map or explain it for someone who has only been out to South Mountain a couple of times. Thanks so much and look forward to seeing you.

Take central avenue south until it enters the park; continue to the San Juan/Summit split - go left toward 'summit' and drive up a long hill. There will be several turns, however the idea is to end up at Buena Vista parking lot - which is the farthest you can drive on that road...if you end somewhere else, you probably took a wrong turn.
