Western States Recovery Run 6.30.10

Reminder: Group trail run in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve tomorrow morning 5:16 AM. Meet at the very top lot of Squaw Peak Drive north of Glendale / Lincoln. Plan on a little over one hour at a slow to moderate pace.
Runners of the week: Congrats to those that completed the Western States 100 mile endurance run on Saturday. This is the oldest and one of the most prestigious of all Ultra Runs. Out of a field that approached 500 runners Andrew Heard finished in 44th place with a time of 20:44:56. Very impressive in itself but when you factor Andrew was coming off a broken foot with limited training WOW. Jamil Coury finished just behind in 58th place. 21:41:08. Both those guys get the coveted Silver Buckle for finishing under 24 hours. Also finishing was Join Roig and Ron Harding. Both finished under the 30 hour cutoff to get the Gold Buckle.

Andrew at the finish with his his sister and pacer (not Higg or Cos! The've been replaced!)

Check out the last video instalment of JJ's 50 mile slam. Four 50 mile trail races within a couple months. The last one is from the San Juan Solstice 50 in Colorado. Beautiful scenery. Great work JJ!
