Zane Grey 50 Recovery Run 4.28.10

Come one come all. Group trail run this Wednesday in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Meet at the very top lot of Squaw Peak Drive north of Glendale / Lincoln Avenue at 5:16 AM. Plan on a little over one hour at a slow to moderate pace.
Past Runner of The Week notables have ranged from 1st place winners of Ultra Events, to 1st time Ultra Finishers, to Race Directors, and to aid station workers. This week is very special. The Taylor Paige Cosmas story has inspired us all to give our loved ones a longer firmer hug.
This past weekend Taylor and the Cosmas Family inspired the WMRC contingent during the Zane Grey 50 Mile race. To show our support to the family, Joe Galope, the race director of Zane Grey 50, assigned Mark Cosmas bib number 200 that we all signed and that Jeff Jones wore from the start to the finish. We also all wore Purple Wrist Bands and showed off “colors”.

Little Taylor will be in our hearts forever.

The WMRC contingent of runners, crew and family was strong at ZG. Congratulations to Jeremy Daugherty for competing and finishing his first 50-mile. Nice work on the “toughest 50 mile” 12:24. Congrats to Paulette for her 3rd place female finish. 11:50. Nick Coury finished a very strong 6th at 10:23. Other notable finishers: Chip, Jamil, Jon Roig, Jody, Higg (man I look good in that hat!), John Pearce, Honey, Jeff Jones, and Robert Andrulis. Additional Edit: Congrats to Nathan Coury who also finished which was his longest trail run to date!!!

Scott Jaime, our visitor last week and our newest WMRC family member won the race in 9:40:55. Check out his last couple of posts and race report. He had some very nice things to say about our group. He also dedicated his win to Mark.

As people send me photos of the day I will load them into the following file:

Good Luck to Kirk at Ironman St. George Saturday. The Purple Bracelet shall live on!!

Great job to all the WMRC Runners. Nick, you are having a GREAT year, do you have a 100 miler on the horizon?

Also, the tribute to Taylor was heartwarming. Wish I could have been at the race! Hope everyone recovers well and quickly.
