WMRC Run / Picture Day

Reminder: We are on for a group trail run Wednesday morning 5:18 AM in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve. Meet at the very top of Squaw Peak Drive North of Glendale Ave. Plan on a little over one hour at conversation pace.

Calling all group runners: All current, sporadic, former and first-timer WMRC runners need to show. If you see someone sleeping at the bus stop wake them up and bring them along. Why?? Its picture day!!

After our run we will take a group photo to include on the blog's front page. Wear your WMRC apparel if you have it. If not, no worries, a smile will do.

Zane Grey Trail marking party

I am organizing a trail marking day for the Zane Grey Highline 50 on Sunday, April 19th. We will meet at the Safeway in Payson at 7:00am. At the intersection of Hwy. 260 & 89, (I believe) turn right...towards Showlow, Heber, Holbrook, etc. On your right you will see the Safeway. Can't miss my cute little Red Honda Element in the parking lot.
For those of you doing the race, trust me, this is a low key, easy day. I promise not to wear you out. This is a great way to see part of the trail at your leisure. The distance each group will be marking all depends on how many volunteers I get. Plan on around 7 to 8 miles.

I promise, we won't let JJ wear his 1985 legwarmers this year.

So I can coordinate groups, please let me know if you can join in on the fun. You can e-mail me at selectionsstore4@aol.com or call my cell #602-399-0531.
Thank you!!!
Honey Albrecht

Sweet 16 Run-

The Runner of the Week is no doubtedly The Arizona Wildcats. Once again the weight and respectability of an entire conference rests solely on the shoulders of the Wildcats. Basketball royalty at it's finest. To the rest of the Pac-10...You are welcome....again.

Blue is runner-up again.

We are on for an hour+ trail run in the Sq Pk Preserve Wed am at 5:16am. This will be an easy to moderate run with some good climbs mixed in. Crunch time in some training schedules for many WMRCer's.

See everyone Wed, GO CATS!!!

Zane Grey 50 Trail Marking Day

I am planning a trail marking day, Sunday, April 19th. If we get enough volunteers, we should be able to mark the whole trail in one day. I realize it's one week before the race, but this is mostly jogging easy and hiking. Great way to see part of the trail, take your time, bring a sack lunch, and just enjoy the scenery.
I will be sending more details soon...where we will meet, time, etc.
Thanks WMRC!
Honey

Zane Grey 50 Trail Maintenance

Joe Galope RD for Zane Grey 2009 has asked me to coordinate trail maintenance this year so I'm going to need help clearing a swath of forest across the base of the Mogollon Rim before race day.

I've developed a relationship with Larry Vogel of the Payson Ranger office when I was helping Joe secure the permit for this event and Larry is more than happy to sign any trail work forms you may need for upcoming races.

If you are interested in helping, contact me off the list at jjones101@cox.net This will be a coordinated effort where I'll encourage all participants to share thoughts and ideas so that we work together like a well oiled machine.

Thanks,Jeff Jones
