Man Against Horse Taper Run 9/30

This weekend is the Man Against Horse 25 and 50 Mile trail run. Wednesday morning we taper! Reminder: we are on for a group trial run in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve Wednesday morning. 5:17 AM Meet at the very top lot of Squaw Peak Drive north of Glendale Avenue. Guaranteed to be a mostly flat slow run. Wake up calls available upon request!!

Runner of the week: Robert Andrulis ran his umpteenth 100 mile run this year finishing the Bear 100 in Utah last weekend. There is still time this year to squeeze a few more in. Also, Jon Roig did a R2R2R last weekend. So jealous!

This weekend is the Man Against Horse race up near Prescott. Good size group doing the 25-mile and even a larger group running 50-mile. Good luck to all and have a fun time!

Check out Jeff Jones latest video of the Wasatch Front 100 Mile Run. Try not to cry!:

Wednesday Morning Its Going To Be Under 80!

Reminder: We are on for a group trail run in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve tomorrow morning. 5:16 AM. Meet at the very top lot of Squaw Peak Drive past the main trail head of Piestewa Peak. Plan on a little over one hour at a slow to moderate pace. The weather forecast is for clear skies and 71 degrees. That's right 71 degrees. That is perfect. We had 23 runners last week. Plenty of trail for more. 1st timers are always welcome!
Runner of the Week: Laura Encinas ventured out to Colorado to run the Boulder Marathon. 3:59, 15th female overall, 3rd in age group. I would say that is a successful run. Very nice job.

Keep in mind the Man Against Horse 25 and 50 mile trail run is a week from Saturday. Lets get a good size group up there.

WMRC 9/16

We are on for an easy 1:06 run in the preserve tomorrow morning at 5:16 am. Come one come all. This will be an easy run in case any of the Wasatcher's show up. Almost cool enough for Blue to come back and take over the group so get ready for some fun....
Runner of the Week: This goes to Jody Chase for her great run in the Wasatch 100 this past weekend. She overcame a tough HR race with a sub 30 hour (29:52) Wasatch finish and 9th female and 67th overall finish. Great Job Jody!!
Runner's up are Jeff Jones and Liz Everly. Both completed Wasatch in 33 and 34 hours respectively. This is such a tough course, constantly climbing or going down steep loose terrain. Great job to everyone. Jeff Jones report here......
Honorable mention to Candice for her Water is Life 50k finish on the Hopi Res. I heard this is a great race in beautiful terrain. Way to go Candice!
See you all in the morning!

Reflection Run Recap

Thanks to all who ran this morning. Thanks to Wardo for bringing the flag. It's always an honor to take a turn and carry with the USA Flag. Incredible feeling.

I've told this story before, eight years ago on 9/11 I went out for a run in the afternoon thinking it would make me feel better about the morning events. It ended up being the most lonely and sad run ever. I couldn't wait to get home with my family and friends. If I can help it, I will never run alone on that date again and be with friends like you. Just like this morning!!

9/11 Reflection Run

Tomorrow Friday 9/11. We are going to meet at 5:30 AM at Dreamy Draw Parking Lot (exit Northern off SR-51) for the annual “Reflection Run”. This is a slow run in the preserve up an around red mound. Nothing better than running with a group on this day. Slow pace, good company, be thankful, reflect, look-forward.

Maybe a gift for those who attend?

Washatch Taper Run 9/9 & Reflection Run 9/11

Reminder: Group trail run in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve tomorrow morning 5:15 AM. Meet at the very top lot of Squaw Peak Drive north of Glendale Ave. Plan on a little over one hour at a slow to moderate pace. We had 22 runners last week. Plenty of room for more. We may have to succumb to headlamps but we shall see (or not).

Runner of the week: Nominees were running in the White Tanks, 12 hours at Javelina, Jerome Hill Climb, Squaw Peak Challenge. The ROW is Debbie Leftwich for running two laps (50K) on the Pemberton Trail Saturday night during the 12 hours at Javelina then backing that up with a heat of the day Squaw Peak Challenge Sunday afternoon. Great show.

Good luck to Jody, Liz and Jeff Jones who are running the Wasatch 100 mile endurance run in the mountains of Utah Friday and Saturday. You can follow their progress here: Wasatch 100 updates.

White Tanks Fun Run Saturday morning.

Fun run tomorrow at White Tanks Mountain Park. Meeting at the outside gate, 5:30, bring 6 bucks to get in.
Doing the Ford Canyon/ Mesquite loop. Awesome run, takes you to the actual "white tanks!" Some rock scrambling involved too. I am planning on going very easy, PROMISE! We can call this the Wasatch taper run. It will probably take around 2 1/2 hours, so bring enough water.
White Tanks
13025 N. White Tanks Mountain Rd.

Basically, take Dunlap, which turns into Olive going west alllll the way until it ends at the gate. 130th Avenue. I know it's far for you easterners, but trust me, it's worth it! Dunlap/Olive is between Peoria and Northern. Mapquest has pretty good directions. (unless you're Jason) Or you can e-mail me.
If you're interested, let me know so you don't get left at the gate.
